FRUIT TREES
Fruit trees are a great addition to your landscape, often with a fragrant, attractive blooms, followed by your very own fresh fruit to pick! Our stock is selected for hardiness for our area, compatibility and dwarfing characteristics. For the best selection of fruit trees, shop in early spring.
APPLE
Apples are dwarf to semi dwarf trees that grow no larger than approximately 16' tall. Size can be controlled by pruning very early spring. Apples are self-sterile and require a second variety for pollination. Generally any apple will pollinate another. If flowering crabapples are in bloom at the same time, they may be used cross-pollinators.
- EMPIRE- Self-sterile. Medium sized McIntosh-type fruit with crisp sweet flesh. Good eating and cider apple. Vigorous and productive tree with long bloom time- good pollinator. Harvest early September.
- GINGERGOLD - Self-sterile. Medium sized yellow-gold fruit with hard, crisp and juicy cream colour flesh. Good Dessert apple and good to use in salads. Harvest Early August
- GRANNY SMITH- Self-sterile. Large, late grass-green fruit with hard, crisp, tart flesh. Popular dessert and baking apple. Requires a long season. Harvest late October.
- GRAVENSTEIN- Self-sterile. Medium-large red and yellow fruit with crisp, juicy tart flavourful flesh. Famous for sauce and baking, also fresh eating (dessert).
- HONEY CRISP- Self-sterile. Newer apple with extrordinary crisp and sweet, juicy flesh. Abundant large red fruit. Tree is vigorous with open, spreading habit. Harvest early October.
- MCINTOSH SPUR- Self-sterile. A naturally dwarf variety of McIntosh, which yield a higher volume of fruit on a smaller tree. Harvest in October.
- SPARTAN- Self-sterile. Medium-large red McIntosh-type fruit with crisp,juicy sweet flesh. Good dessert and baking apple. Vigorous and benefits from fruit thinning. Stores well. Harvest Early October.
- ROYAL GALA- Self-sterile. Medium- large sized, red fruit with mild sweet flavour, juicy, crisp cream yellow flesh. Mild flavour that picky eater prefer. Harvest September.
- YELLOW TRANSPARENT- Self-sterile. Medium- large clear, pale yellow waxy fruit with crisp and juicy flesh. Good dessert and baking apple. An antique, early variety that produces at a young age.
- 4 IN 1- Self-fruitful. Four different apple varieties grafted onto one tree Useful for restricted spaces. Harvest is Variable depending on the varieties on the tree.
APRICOT
Apricots are self-fruitful so only one tree is required to produce fruit. Apricots grow approximately 13' tall. Size can be controlled by pruning.
- HARGLOW- Self-fruitful. Medium sized bright orange fruit which firm and flavourful. Best used for fresh eating. Harvest mid August.
CHERRY (SWEET)
Sweet Cherries are not self-fruitfull so two sweet cherry varieties are required to produce fruit, except where noted. These varieties are standard size trees and grow approximately 20' tall, except where noted. Size can be controlled by pruning in very early spring.
- BING- Self-sterile. Large, firm, juicy black fruit is the standard to which all others are judged. One of the best known and widely planted sweet cherries. Harvest mid-July.
- KORDIA (Natural dwarf) - Self-sterile. Large, glossy firm black fruit, outstanding flavour and weight of crop. Harvest late June-July
- STELLA (Natural dwarf)- Self-fruitful. Very large, firm black sweet fruit on a naturally dwarf tree. Ideal for small or restricted spaces. Harvest mid-July.
- 3 IN 1- Self-fruitful. 3 different sweet cherries grafted onto one tree. Excellent for restricted spaces. Harvest is variable depending on which varieties are grafted on the tree.
CHERRY (SOUR)
Sour Cherries are self-fruitful so only one tree is required to produce fruit. Sour cherries are standard sized trees and grow approximately 13' tall. Size can be controlled by pruning in very early spring. Sour cherries are primarily used for preserving, baking or sauces.
- MONTMORENCY- Self-fruitful. Large bright red fruit with a firm texture. The most popular and widely planted sour cherry. Used for preserving and baking. Harvest late July
- NORTHSTAR- Self-fruitful. Medium sized mahogany red fruit used for perserving or baking. Tress are naturally compact, ideal for small or restricted spaces. Harvest late July
NECTARINE
Nectarines are self-fruitful so only one tree is required to produce fruit but will produce more fruit if more than on variety is planted. They grow approximately 13' tall but can be controlled by pruning. Trees must be thinned annually to maximize fruit production.
- HARFLAME- Self-fruitful. Medium sized fruit is yellow with red blush. Freestone with firm flesh and resistant to pit-splitting. Good for fresh eating, baking and preserving. Harvest August.
PEACHES
Peaches are self-fruitful so only one tree is required to produce fruit but bear fruit at 2-3 years of age. However, there will be a more abundant crop if more than one variety is used. They grow approximately 13' tall, but can be controlled by pruning. Prune trees every year as they fruit on new wood.
- ALLSTAR- Self-fruitful. Medium sized bright red fruit has clear yellow freestone flesh. Harvest September.
- GLOWING STAR- Self-fruitful. Mostly red fruit with a slight yellow under glow. Yellow firm freestone fruit, which is sweet, and great for eating fresh, canning and desserts/preserving. Bacterial spot tolerant. Harvest mid September.
- RELIANCE- Self-fruitful. Medium sized soft and juicy yellow-orange peach. One of the hardiest peach varieties. Good for eating fresh, jams, and jellies. Harvest mid August.
PEARS
Pears are not self-fruitful so two pear varieties are required to produce fruit. These cultivars are standard size trees and will grow approximately 20' tall. Size can be controlled by pruning in very early spring.
- ANJOU- Self-sterile. Distinctive due to its green skin when ripe. Mild, aromatic fine textured flesh has a long storage life. Increased resistance to fire blight. Harvest early October.
- BARLETT- Self-sterile. Large golden yellow fruit with buttery, juicy, very flavourful flesh. Vigorous grower and very productive, even at young age. Harvest mid September.
- HARROW CRISP- Self-sterile. Large yellow fruit with a red blush. Creamy white flesh is grit-free and firm with mild sweet flavour. Good for flesh eating and preserving. Resistant to fire blight. Harvest early September.

PLUM (JAPANESE)
Japanese plums are not self-fruitful, so two different varieties are required to produce fruit. Japanese plums cannot cross-pollinate European plums, with exception of Reine Claude, which can pollinate Burbank, Early Golden and Shiro. These cultivars are standard size trees and will grow approximately 20' tall. Size can be controlled by pruning in very early spring.
- BURBANK- Self-sterile. Medium sized dark red round fruit with juicy, aromatic flesh. A good quality clingstone plum, still popular after 100 years. Harvest late August
- EARLY GOLDEN- Self-sterile. Medium sized round golden fruit with a red blush. This good quality firm freestone is the first Japanese plum to ripen. Very vigorous, it benefits from thinning. Harvest early August.
- SHIRO- Self-sterile. Medium sized bright red fruit with yellow flesh. Flavour improves 2-3 weeks after harvest and fruit stores well. A hardy clingstone plum. Harvest August.
